IBCC member Curt Burroughs had a recent pair of very welcome visitors. Pictured above is Constance Bolson, wife of Ransome Bolson, with her son, Loryl Bolson. Ransome carries a prominant position in our history being one of the original breeders of Iowa Blues. Iowa Blue history shows Ransome's flock to be the last known flock of Iowa Blues that was still fertile in 1989. Ransome possessed at that time a flock of about 50 birds with only 20 that were of a productive age. Kent Whealy was given eggs from Ransome's flock for hatching and thus, a remnant of the flock was preserved as seed for the Iowa Blues we have today. Constance, pictured here at a lovely 89 years young, is seated holding an Iowa Blue pullet while visiting Curt's flock along with her son, Loryl. It's lovely to put faces to the names in the breed's history. Thanks to Constance and Loryl for the lovely visit! Voting is now open for election of our club officers for the bienniel 2014-2015 term.
