Eric and Hannah at the Avoca show.
Hannah is holding "Ava" (Best of Breed at the show), while Eric is holding "Herman" (Reserved Breed of the show and named after a famous ancestor). We welcome Hannah to the show ring and look forward to seeing them at future shows!
Way to go!
The IBCC wishes to send a warm welcome and thank you to our newly appointed district directors:
District 3 – North-Central
District 4 – South-Central
District 5 – Northeast
Lincoln Montgomery-Rodgers DVM
District 6 – Southeast
We do still have two districts that are as yet unassigned. Hopefully the Iowa Blues will be moving in soon! If you have nominations for someone (or yourself) to be district director of these districts or have questions, feel free to contact the officers.
District 1 – Northwest
District 2 – Southwest
Tor was kind enough to rescan the original photograph of old Herman to show the legs as well.
Thank you, Tor!
The IBCC was recently contacted by Tor Janson of Seed Savers Exchange. Together with Bill Muller, a discovery was made that the SSE library still contained the original photographs from Kent Whealy's article, History of the Iowa Blue.
Previously, the only copy we had obtained had badly degraded black and white copied photographs. Tor and Bill were kind enough to send us large resolution color scans of the original photographs, these with great excitement have been added to our historical archives! These photos mark a snapshot in time that few have witnessed of the Iowa Blue in previous decades.
Thank you Tor and Bill, from all of us Iowa Blue enthusiasts! These photos will be very valuable to the breed and our club as we move forward.
The membership has voted to approve the proposed bylaws for the Iowa Blue Chicken Club. These are posted in the Members Only section.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the census.
The Iowa Blue Chicken Club blog will serve as a record of club happenings and business.
